How to set up Meta Pixel

Welcome to our guide about how to set up a Facebook pixel on your Geeklab campaign.

Setting up the pixel is an important step to optimize the campaign and to utilize the landing page view. Users will see a redirecting page for a second before being redirected to the final destination you’ve picked when creating the campaign. When on this page, the pixel will be introduced firing back the landing page event to Facebook. This allows you to optimize your campaigns towards people who click install. Let’s dive right in.

👉 Business Manager

The pixel setup starts on the Business Manager.

Under Data sources, select Pixels to access the pixel setup view. From this view, you are able to create a new pixel by clicking the Add button next to the search bar. The add button will open a window that allows you to rename the pixel.

As the pixel is now set up, you are able to connect it to a business account by accessing the pixel.

This the view where you can find the Pixel ID. The ID is a series of numbers that you will add in the Geeklab campaign’s Attribution tab later.

Facebook automatically sets the status of the pixel as inactive, so you will get a 'warning' message from Facebook. Please note, this is just a warning and it does not mean there is a problem or that your pixel is not working. It will show inactive until the pixel is attached to an active campaign with traffic coming in.

From this view you can also manage the rights of people who have access to the pixel.

👉 Geeklab Campaign Creation

Once you have set up the pixel in Meta, head over to Geeklab to create your campaign and attach the pixel from the Attribution tab. First you need to create the pixel by clicking Add new pixel. You will be able to select the pixel from the dropdown menu or add a new one.

After clicking the + sign, you will be shown a popup where you can add the pixel name, the ID and the type. As a pixel type, remember to select page view and finally click on the add button.

👉 Verify that the events are working

By downloading the Meta Pixel Chrome extension you are able to test that the pixel works. To make it work you install the plugin, open the preview of the Geeklab product page, click the install button, and take a close look at the plugin. If the pixel fires up, then it is working properly.

👉 Setting up campaigns to optimise towards Landing Page Views

Select Traffic as your Facebook campaign objective. This option is ideal for Landing page views.

Next, choose the Website option to send traffic to your website. As a performance goal, we choose to Maximise number of landing page views.

👉 Conclusion

First create the pixel on Meta Business Suite. Then, set up your Meta Ads campaign, adding the pixel there as well.

Lastly, create the Geeklab campaign adding the pixel there. However, please note: Whether you create the ad campaign or Geeklab campaign first, the order does not matter.

That's all! Remember to double-check you are targeting correct GEO's, limiting the audience to specific placements and specific devices. 🎉
